On March 17, 2006 at the premises of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs of Ukraine a special meeting of the Public Council under the MFA of Ukraine dedicated to the Transniestrian settlement took place.

In the context of recent events at the Transniestrian segment of the Ukrainian-Moldovan border participants of the meeting discussed a complex of issues regarding the ways to settle the Transniestrian problem. In particular they noted the importance of initiative and active stand of the Ukrainian diplomacy. 

In the course of the meeting there was positively assessed a decision of Transniestrian legislative body to unblock transport movement from the side of Tiraspol at the cross points on the Transniestrian segment of the Ukrainian-Moldovan border.
