7th European Ministerial Conference on Mass Media Policy “Integration and Diversity: the new frontiers of European media and communications policy
Kyiv, March 10-11, 2005
The questions to be discussed in the course of the Conference are of significant importance for the future European media and communications policy. These are, in particular, the issues of freedom of expression and responsibility of mass media, development of mass media sources in the times of globalization, protection of human rights and improvement of law principles in the sphere of media and communications policy, media diversity and steps facilitating free access to information.
The invitations for the participation in the work of the conference was sent to the 46 Council of Europe member-states as well as to the countries-observers (the nations that are parties to the European Cultural Convention, Non-European countries, international organizations, unions, associations and federations) and representatives of the European Broadcasting Unions.
There expected to be adopted several final documents at the Conference. The Political Declaration will be addressed to the CE member-states governments. The Action Plan will pave the way for further Council of Europe progress in the sphere of mass media issues in the context of the enlarged Europe and with reference to the changes in the media space and development of new communications services. The delegates of the Conference are also due to approve three Resolutions covering main topics discussed during the work of the forum.
This international conference draws new prospects for the European mass media sources development and envisages further advance in high information technologies. The congress is also aimed at highlighting All European vision on the priority tendencies and guidelines in future media development.
Parallel to the Conference proceedings there planned to be organized the International Exhibition “Ukraine Informational”.
The coordinators of the Conference are: Council of Europe, the Organizing Committee headed by the Vice Prime Minister of Ukraine and Ukrainian State Committee for Television and Radio Broadcasting. The executor of the event is “EXPO 2000 Ukraine” Ltd.
7th European Ministerial Conference on Mass Media Policy will be held in the premises of the International Exhibition Centre.

International Conference “International image of Ukraine and its regions”

The purpose of the Conference is to work out the unified comprehensive approach to the realization of the Ukraine’s image policy and contribute to further exchange of experience in this field. The participants will have the opportunity to familiarize with successful image projects in Ukraine and other European countries. At the same time the Conference is aimed at outlining the mechanisms of spreading positive information about Ukraine abroad, promoting the inflow of foreign investments and developing international tourism in Ukraine.
